About
In 2017, we raised funds through our non-profit to purchase land in the fertile mountains of Virginia to create the Wild + Free Farm Village.
After two years of searching, we've finally acquired a 197-acre retreat center in Highland County, Virginia, also known as "Little Switzerland."
The grounds include a main lodge, ropes course, barn, several cabins, mountain streams, and acres of forested trails.
The Wild + Free Farm Village is a place where the stars shine a bit brighter, the trails lead you to another place in time, and the mountain views take your breath away. We can't wait to experience it with you!
The Forest Cabin sits on the Wild + Free Farm Village. We can't wait for you to experience it.
Built in the 1800s and expanded into a spacious homestead, the Forest Cabin cabin fills you with warmth and history the moment you step inside. This is a place to relax, learn from nature, and connect with those you love.
We don’t know who built this log cabin, but we can easily imagine them, taking care in placing the windows, preparing meals over the fire.
Today, this home remains a woodland refuge, beautifully remodeled by the loving hands of Wild + Free families. A place with 197 beautiful acres of hiking, filled with ferns and moss, and soaring with pine trees.
You'll be met with beautiful surroundings, void of outside distractions. Organic bed linens and two cozy fireplaces make this a relaxing and comfortable retreat.
The Forest Cabin is located an hour and a half west of Charlottesville and three hours from Washington DC. One thing is for sure - there is no getting to Head Waters, Virginia without stunning views of the mountains.
Currently, we are booking stays from December through May.
