Art Opening Reception - Highland County Public Library
Sunday, May 4, 2025 (2:00 PM - 5:00 PM) (EDT)
Description
Fiber artist Tate Swecker Dunn invites you to her opening reception of the exhibit "Wearable Art" in the Mountain View Room of the Highland County Public Library , Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m.
The exhibit features clothing that might otherwise be thrown out by breathing new life into a favorite piece. New textiles are created from wool and silk fibers as well as repurposing brand name wool, silk, linen and cotton clothing. Details about the plants and fabrics used in each creation, as well as the process, are included for each item in the show.
Tate shared "Whether I’m taking wool and silk fibers and felting them into cloth, creating a dye or print from natural materials, or shaping pottery, the end results can be unpredictable, but it’s an adventure you can always find beauty in, and little goes to waste during the creative process. Best of all, you feel good not just creating art, but wearing it."
