The Crooked Road On Tour: Gayheart and Freeman

Saturday, April 10, 2021 (7:00 PM - 9:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

The Crooked Road on Tour comes to Monterey, VA as part of the Arts Council’s Second Saturday Concert Series in April. Artists Willard Gayheart and Scott Freeman will perform music in the old-time Appalachian tradition beginning at 7:00 p.m. April 10th at the Highland Center.

Willard Gayheart and Scott Freeman are consummate musicians, storytellers, teachers, songwriters and tunesmiths, and to say they are versatile would be an impressive understatement. Though grounded in old-time tradition, their music is adventurous and ready to roam the edges for new sounds and songs that fit within the tradition. Scott Freeman plays mandolin, guitar, and fiddle and has a smooth baritone vocal style that he uses to great effect on his own songs as well as those of others. Willard, a renowned pencil artist, is a hugely gifted songwriter that captures Appalachian life in song like a firefly in a jar for all to marvel at.

Willard and Scott's April 10th performance at the Highland Center will have limited seating, but the concert will be live-streamed on the Highland County Arts Council’s Facebook page (www.facebook.com/HighlandCountyArtsCouncil).  You can purchase tickets through Eventbrite by clicking the link here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-crooked-road-on-tour-gayheart-and-freeman-tickets-148824372705
