The Wonders of Wool at The 3rd Space

The Wonders of Wool at The 3rd Space

Saturday, April 26, 2025 (9:00 AM - 4:00 PM) (EDT)

Description

Are you interested in working with wool, but don't know where to start? In this class, you will begin with skirting a raw fleece and learning about wool during the process. What makes for good quality wool versus bad? What types of wool are good for what? How is fleece scoured?

There will be a midday break for lunch--please bring or arrange your own. Then, in the afternoon, you will learn to card and spin washed wool into yarn on a hand spindle. All fleece and tools will be provided for use during class.

You will have a small sample skein of yarn to take home, all made by you! Instructor, Kimberly Radcliffe is "The Unapologetic Raw Fleece Enabler". Her love of wool began in 2009 when she took a spinning class and from there, it was a short jump to processing raw wool. She has taught fleece, combing and spinning workshops at many fiber festivals on the east coast. She has also judged fleeces at wool shows and her handspun yarn has won numerous awards.

Her passion is educating anyone who would like to learn more about the wonders of wool!
