Plan to celebrate International Dark Sky Week by attending!
Based on the forecast, the April 2024 Star Party will be held on Sunday, April 7th at 923 Sounding Knob Road at the Skip Jones property in Monterey, Virginia! Plan to gather around 7:30 pm. If the weather deteriorates, as sometimes happens, stay tuned for further announcements.
Knowledgeable local astronomers bring powerful telescopes to share views of the starts, constellations, planets, and nebulae. Bring yourself, telescopes and binoculars if you have them, and a lawn chair. Dress warmly, and prepare to be awed by the beauty of Highland County's Dark Sky.

From US 250, turn south onto Sounding Knob Road and drive up the gravel road for approximately a mile and a half. The address is marked on the left, The exact date, depending on the weather forecast, will be announced Thursday on WVLS radio, highlandcounty.org, and the Recorder Facebook page. Bring your telescopes and binoculars, a lawn chair, dress warmly, and prepare to be awed by the beauty of Highland County's Dark Sky.
